오늘 또 한 명이 잡혔다, 신문이 온통 난리다. 
“컴퓨터 범죄 스캔들로 십대가 체포되다”, “은행 조작으로 해커 체포”…

중고등학교에 있을 때 난 분수 계산법을 15번도 넘게 들었다. 난 다 이해하고 있는 것이다. 
“아뇨 선생님, 계산 과정은 굳이 안 썼어요. 다 암산으로 했거든요…”

만약 이게 실수를 한다면, 그건 내가 잘못했기 때문이야. 
이게 날 싫어해서도 아니고… 나에게 겁을 먹어서도.. 나를 똑똑한 재수없는 놈으로 생각해서도 아니야.. 
여기에서 날 가르치기 싫어해서도 절대 아니야…

그리고선 일이 벌어졌다… 세상으로의 문이 열렸다… 헤로인이 중독자의 혈관을 타고 흐르는 것처럼 난 전화선을 통해 달려나갔다. 
전자기파가 보내지고, 매일 똑같은 지겨운 일상에서 탈출할 방법을 찾았다. 
“이거야… 여기가 내가 있어야 할 곳이야…” 
난 여기에 있는 모두를 안다… 내가 만나지 않았더라도, 말을 한 마디도 나누지 않았더라도, 그들에게 들리지 않을지라도… 나는 당신들을 모두 다 안다…

 You bet your ass we’re all alike… we’ve been spoon-fed baby food at school when we hungered for steak… the bits of meat that you did let slip through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We’ve been dominated by sadists, or ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us willing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.

너희들은 우리가 다 똑같다고 단정해 버린다. 우리는 스테이크를 먹고 싶을 때도 아기들이나 먹는 음식을 배급 받았고… 몇 조각 안 되는 고기들도 너희들이 먹다 남긴 맛 없는 것이었다. 우리는 새디스트들에게 지배 당했고, 냉담하게 무시 되었다.우리에게 가르침을 줄만 한 몇몇은 사막에서 물방울을 찾는 것마냥 어려웠다.

우리는 원래 존재했던 서비스들을 공짜로 사용했을 뿐이다. 돈에 환장한 놈들이 운영하는 게 아니었다면 헐값에 이용할 수 있던 걸 말이다. 그리고는 너희들은 우리를 범죄자라고 부르지. 
우리는 탐험을 할 뿐이다… 그랬더니 너희들은 우리를 범죄자라고 부른다. 
우리는 지식을 찾아 해맬 뿐이다… 그랬더니 너희들은 우리를 범죄자라고 부른다. 
우리는 피부색, 국적, 종교적인 편견 없이 존재한다… 그리고 너희들은 우리를 범죄자라고 부른다. 
너희들은 원자폭탄을 만들고, 전쟁을 일으키고, 살인을 하고, 사기를 치고선 그게 다 우리를 위하는 거라고 거짓말을 치고, 그렇게 믿도록 만든다. 우리를 범죄자라고 하면서 말이다.
