<p>Founders sometimes fall into the trap of building products for investors and advisers, instead of for users.</p>



<p>I’ve made that mistake myself. Once, after a productive conversation with a VC who raised some interesting points, I went back to my team and we built out the features he suggested.</p>



<p>A few months later, when I reconnected with him, he didn’t even remember what he had said about the feature 🙂 Meanwhile, our metrics hadn’t improved much, which was what he really cared about.</p>



<p>So don’t build your product for investors or advisers; they’re often not your users. They won’t care about or even remember what they said; all they care about is traction, which comes from users.</p>
